IntroductionThe Millie Foundation is inspired by the four Scannell sisters - Kathleen, Helen, Mary & Mildred (Millie) - who were strong supporters of women’s education.  The Millie Foundation awards an annual scholarship to a student or graduate of Lee Middle & High School who is pursuing a career in a design field, such as architecture, interior design, graphic design, landscape architecture, structural engineering, or historic preservation.

Millie was the grandmother of one of The Millie Foundation's board members (Kerry).  The family lost Millie in 2020.  It was important to establish the foundation in time for Millie’s first great granddaughter, MaKayla Schuerer, to graduate high school and pursue her educational goals. A graduate of the Lee Middle & High School Class of 2023 was the inaugural recipient of The Millie Foundation scholarship. See below for past recipients!
